Making an annual New Year’s resolution is a tradition for many of us, but unfortunately, so is breaking them. The Journal of Clinical Psychology published a study finding that 54% of people break their resolutions within the first six months.

One of the primary reasons for this is that we simply set our goals too high. If you have never worked out a day in your life, are you realistically going to start waking up at 5:00 am every morning to go to the gym? Probably not.

While there is nothing wrong in shooting for the stars, here are fifteen ideas for healthy resolutions that might be easier to actually keep:

  1. Cut down on the TV. Limit yourself to no more than two hours per night MAX.

  2. Try a new physical activity such as yoga, rock climbing, or kickboxing.

  3. If you eat a lot of fast food, try cutting back. No more than twice per month is a good goal to start with.

  4. Run five miles every week. This could be five one-mile runs, one five-mile run, or anything in between.

  5. Walk more. Aim for 10,000 steps per day. Do things like taking the stairs and parking at the far end of the lot to help you meet your goal.

  6. Join a gym. You don’t have to go every day, but the membership fee should give you incentive to be there at least a couple times every week.

  7. Replace the chips, cookies, and crackers in your cabinets with Greek yogurt, almonds, and fresh fruits and vegetables.

  8. Do 50 push-ups every day: 10 when you wake up, 10 during the mid-morning, 10 during lunch, 10 after work, and 10 before you go to sleep.

  9. Pack your lunch. This not only makes it easier to eat healthy, it will end up saving you lots of money too.

  10. Sleep more. Believe it or not, rest is an important aspect of your overall health and fitness. Aim for at least 8 or 9 hours each night.

  11. Eat breakfast every morning. It will curb your craving for a mid-morning snack and provide you with energy for your day.
  12. Curb, or at least drastically cut back on the smoking and drinking. Cigarettes and alcohol are two of the worst substances you can expose your body to.

  13. Show your joints and muscles some extra love by stretching every day. It doesn’t have to be much – five or ten minutes will do.

  14. Drink more water. Being well-hydrated offers plenty of benefits. Try to drink at least a half a gallon every day.

  15. Join a sports league. Sports are a great way to get in your physical activity without feeling like you are working out.
