TOP SPORTS FACILITY MANAGEMENT TEAM PURCHASES TRUMBULL SITE;
NEW MULTI-SPORTS VENUE TO BE CALLED INSPORTS
Former Sports Zone to be Completely Renovated, Expected to Open in Mid-September
Trumbull CT. – A leading multi-sports venue management team headed by Fairfield County native Peter Corbett announced today that Insports Centers Trumbull LLC has acquired the Trumbull indoor facility formerly known as the Sports Zone. The facility is undergoing a complete renovation that will elevate the site to one of New England’s finest. The complex is tentatively scheduled to open in mid-September and will be the only large indoor sports facility in the greater Bridgeport area.
The 108,000 square foot space will feature three new playing areas: (1) a 100-yard Momentum 41 new artificial turf field for football soccer, lacrosse, baseball, softball, field hockey, rugby and more; (2) three regulation size Action Thrust maple hardwood basketball courts that can also be set up as four regulation size volleyball, courts or used for futsal, dodge ball and badminton; and (3) a 60-yard glass enclosed dasher boards field for box lacrosse, field hockey and boarded soccer, which is the only true Canadian box lacrosse pitch in Fairfield County. In addition to new top-of-the-line playing surfaces, all of the fields will have new state-of-the-art LED lighting and air circulation systems
The facility will also feature greatly enhanced viewing areas, high quality scoreboards, audio/video systems and a restaurant/pub. The facility has been designed to accommodate a wide variety of non-sport specific programs for youth and families in addition to its high quality programs for elite athletes and teams.
The Insports Centers tagline is : “The game is inside”—and under its roof will provide affordable leagues, tournaments, camps, and instruction in a safe, clean and fun environment for both youth and adults. A sampling of the unique offerings will include: corporate lunch leagues, restaurant leagues (for night workers), sales events, corporate olympics, summer and vacation day camp programs, graduation parties, after school programs, CPR/First Aid training, SAT prep classes, as well as art, music, and tae kwon do classes. The facility also offers utility room space for birthday parties, coaches meetings, team building events and a seating area where kids in after school programs can do their homework while waiting for a parent to arrive.
Insports Centers will be supported by a team of well trained, customer
service-focused staff to ensure that the facility programs are run efficiently, dependably and in a manner that promotes a positive and fun user experience. It will also offer opportunities for high school and college students to gain work experience through internship programs.
“Hiring and training of staff to oversee the facility and all of its unique programming is one of the most critical aspects of running a successful sports and recreation facility,” says Corbett. “Our customers are our number one asset and we are committed to making their experience the best it can be. To achieve that objective, we will be offering not just a high quality sport and recreation space, but also meaningful and relevant programs and well trained, friendly staff to care for our customers.”
The facility will be open 7am – midnight, seven days a week, 360 days a year, allowing it to be available for varied groups from moms to school kids to third shifters to seniors. “We will have something for everyone,” says Corbett, who has previously developed, built and successfully operated several large indoor
multi-sport facilities on the East Coast and is part of an investment group that owns and operates five indoor and outdoor tennis clubs throughout Connecticut.
“We will be welcoming the recreational player and novice athlete as well as elite teams and specific sports leagues,” he continues. “We have an all-inclusive philosophy. In addition to a top-of-the-line experience, our environment will foster a positive social and community experience, with quality food, an expected beer and wine license and a state of the art audio/video system with multiple TV monitors, allowing our members to watch a game before or after they play a game. We want them to hang out and enjoy the camaraderie.”
Corbett’s successful track record operating indoor sports facilities over 20 years has enabled him to become one of the leaders in this business. He is a founding partner of the National Sports Center Consortium, a membership organization focused on best practices, marketing, financing and sponsorship of more than 30 sports facilities.
